When you're trusting an organisation with the care of someone you love, you want to know they're held to a proper standard, not just taking their word for it, but knowing someone independent is checking. So it's one of the most sensible questions a family can ask of any care provider: are you regulated, and by whom?

The short answer is yes — Edyn is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and we hold a rating of \"Good\" across all five of the areas they assess. What is the CQC?

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. It's the official body responsible for making sure that care services, from home care providers like Edyn to care homes, hospitals, GP practices and dentists, meet essential standards of quality and safety.

The CQC does this by setting clear standards that providers must meet, registering those who meet them, and then inspecting and monitoring services on an ongoing basis. If a provider falls short, the CQC has real power to require improvements and, where necessary, take enforcement action. In other words, it exists to protect people who use care services, and to give families confidence that the care being provided is safe and good.

(A quick note: the CQC regulates services in England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own equivalent regulators: the Care Inspectorate, Care Inspectorate Wales, and the RQIA respectively.)
